Gandalf believes that Karazgar will remain a threat to the dwarves at Skarháld for as long as the Black Book remains there, and he wants to bring it on a journey away from the Ered Mithrin.
'I propose that we travel together, ${PLAYER}, and bring the Black Book with us on a new journey away from the stones of Skarháld. But where shall we take it? I suggest a place of both comfort and strength, perhaps a lodge warmed by a roaring hearth and guarded by a family of stern temperament, but who deal kindly with their friends?
'Yes, I speak of Grimbeorn and his folk, ${PLAYER}! The Beorninghús will be well-suited for my study of the Black Book, and we shall be assuredly very safe within its wooden walls. Grimbeorn will require some convincing before he allows us to stay, but like his father Beorn before him, if we spark his curiosity he will open his doors to us.
'The direct road south is not open to us, but that is no great hindrance. Let us return to Eryn Lasgalen on our way to the Beorning-lands, for I wish to consult with Thranduil of the wood about several small matters. If he has not already done so, we should ask him to open the Forest Gate once again.
'You should bid farewell to Durin before we leave for Felegoth. And ${PLAYER}? Tell the young prince to ignore the voice in his heart that compels him to seek Thafar-gathol. That place is lost, if ever it existed at all, and he should put it from his mind. It is not for him.'
