The Combe lumberyard hosts a contest of strength, dexterity, and fortitude to help crown the winner of a coveted forester competition!
'Hullo there, have you come to compete in the contest?'
Wilkin smiles broadly.
'What contest, you ask? The one to determine who the finest forester in the Chetwood is, of course! Naturally, you will need have the forester profession to compete.'
'Aldith and I thought it would be a fine way to settle the matter of who is best, seeing as how you foresters always seem to be arguing about such over a pint of ale.
'To properly settle the matter with deeds instead of just boasts, it must be a contest of the strength, the dexterity, and even the fortitude of the competing foresters. And then there has to be prizes for the winners and those that compete, as would be expected.
'If you think you are up to the challenge, or at least take a liking to the prizes, just tell me so! Then you will want to see Aldith to register, and in a short time we can get started.'
You have chosen to compete in a competition to help determine the best forester in all of Chetwood - right now. Speak to the judge to let them know that you are ready to compete.
Now that you are registered for the event, you will need to wait at the Chetwood lumberyard for other competitors to join the event.
All the entrants are present and the judge is preparing to start the event. Wait for her to say 'go'.
You first need to collect an axe so that you can chop wood and then cure skins. Hurry now.
Log piles along Old Bauman's hovel are set up for harvesting. Take your axe and collect five stacks of unrefined wood from the piles there.
Make your way to the competition table beneath the tree in the centre of the camp and refine wood with the forester's axe.
You refined the wood, successfully. Now, collect hides from the bear carcasses behind Bauman's hovel.
With the skins collected, it is time to move on to the curing them. Make your way to the stone wall on the far side of the camp and cure skins at the hide stretchers.
With the hides completed, you now need to make your way to the bench beside the house and sample three brews from local taverns.
With those tasty beverages consumed and sloshing in your stomach, the real test begins. Collect a caber.
Carry the caber through the first set of markers in the Chetwood lumberyard.
